Installation of OXE300 vs a gasoline outboard

FUEL SYSTEM:

As a modern diesel engine, it runs on a common rail, high pressured fuel system which means there is a fuel supply and a fuel return line to the fuel tank.

ENGINE HEIGHT:

The engine height also plays an important role, due to the ability to run larger sized propellers and the fact that the OXE300 tops out at 4300 RPM. For example, it is important that the engine is not hung too low and in almost all cases sits higher than a gasoline outboard on the transom.

ELECTRICAL:

One of the benefits of the OXE300 is its ability to deliver 180amps, which can be used to recharge batteries and power onboard equipment. As a result, all batteries, cabling switches and fuses need to be sized accordingly.

HULL TYPE:

On a conductive hull, such as aluminium, steel or carbon fibre, it is important to isolate the engine from the hull and auxiliary equipment to limit the risk of stray currents which can impact the engine, equipment or create additional corrosion as a result of interference with the protective anodes.
